Get Some Tape on That Pipe Chanter
One of the basic bagpipe maintenance tasks is putting and maintaining fresh tape on your pipe chanter, so that individual notes can be tuned. Of course, you don’t want it to slide around while you’re playing, so choosing the best tape and overlapping it enough will ensure it stays put. One thing we ask in our band is that people tape their own pipe chanters, to save time at band rehearsals. If you are a beginner and not comfortable with tuning the chanter yet, that’s ok, you can still put tape on it, and then our pipe major, Wes, can take it from there.
